Botox® for Therapeutic &
Cosmetic Use
BOTOX® is an injectible form of a protein
(purified botulinum toxin type A), which is used to relax
specific muscles for up to six months at a time. Its first
clinical use was in ophthalmology, for certain eye-muscle
disorders; it then expanded to other purposes.
At ESA we use BOTOX® to treat eyelid
and facial spasms. Under certain limited conditions it is
useful in treating certain types of headache. Under these
circumstances the treatments are covered by most insurance
policies.
We also offer and perform BOTOX Cosmetic®
injections, to reduce facial and forehead wrinkles, especially
in the glabellar area (between the brows) and for crow’s-feet.
